Ever since I started handing out Mashery business cards and stickers, people have been saying "great logo". Yesterday, while everyone at Mashery was heads-down preparing for next week's launch, I was interrupted not once but twice by IMs from Dom Moreci of Plumbline Stdios, who designed the logo, telling us that it had won a design contest.
First, Dom tells me that it will be featured in the thirty-sixth vintage of the Creativity Annual, which is apparently a big deal in the design world:
First launched in 1970, the Creativity Awards is one of the oldest and most well established graphic design competitions. Each year we receive thousands of entries from firms of all sizes; our list of winners includes the most prestigious agencies, design houses and media creators from around the world. The yearly competition culminates with the publication of the Creativity Annual: a 400 page, full color hardcover distributed worldwide by Harper Collins...
The Creativity Awards competition continues to honor the outstanding work done each year by creative professionals in every discipline. Awards are based strictly on the quality of the submissions, not the size, nor reputation of the firm.
And then, last night, Dom pings me again to tell me that the logo won first place in logo division of the American Design Awards 2006 Summer semi-annual contest, which received over 1300 entries across 18 categories. Congratulations to Dom on both awards!
OK, that was fun. Now we get back to putting the finishing touches on our beta release, so that Mashery the product is as well-received as Mashery the logo.
